Definition

A speed wall is the 15-metre competition structure used for official speed climbing: two parallel lanes, a regular 5-degree overhang, and certified holds, timing and auto belays.

Core numbers

15.00 m high, about 3.00 m per lane, 5° overhang. The climbing surface starts a short distance above the floor to leave room for the start system.

Gym walls versus competition walls

A gym can install a lookalike lane that is useful for training but not eligible for official records.
