Evidence summary
The Speed-specific literature is growing but remains small. The strongest recurring evidence concerns route execution, movement efficiency, lower-limb power, force-velocity qualities, reaction/start performance and measurable phase differences.
Combines direct Speed studies with systematic reviews of climbing research; conclusions are graded by source type and directness.
Direct Speed evidence
Direct studies now include competition time-motion analyses, biomechanical motion studies, force-velocity profiling, performance-predictor research and increasingly large video datasets. These studies are most useful when the claim concerns the standardized route, reaction, phase timing, body trajectory or physical characteristics of Speed athletes.
Broader climbing evidence
Systematic reviews of lead, bouldering and mixed climbing populations add context for strength testing, finger-force measures, injury patterns and training methods. Transfer should be labeled rather than assumed because Speed uses larger holds, a fixed route and a much shorter performance duration.
Relatively well-supported themes
Several themes recur across Speed-specific methods: movement fluency and coordinated execution matter; lower-limb power and rapid force production are relevant; route phases differ in performance importance; and the standardized route makes video, split and trajectory analysis especially informative.
Areas with limited evidence
There is not yet a large body of randomized Speed-training trials establishing the best weekly program, taper, exercise selection or recovery prescription. Anthropometric associations should not be treated as destiny, and injury research specific to Speed remains sparse.

Direct Speed Evidence means the study population or task is Speed-specific. Broader Climbing Evidence means transfer from other climbing disciplines. Emerging Evidence means new, small or weakly replicated findings that should not support strong prescriptions.
