Train sections to solve problems
A section isolates a technical or acceleration problem without the fatigue and setup cost of a full run. Repeat the same segment while changing only one variable—such as a foot placement or hip path—so the effect can be evaluated.
Link sections before full runs
Once a movement works in isolation, connect it to the contacts before and after. Many techniques fail not because the move itself is impossible, but because the athlete arrives in the wrong position.
Use full runs for integration
Full-route attempts test whether start, sequence, speed endurance and finish can coexist. They are essential, but maximal attempts are too blunt to diagnose every problem.
Count quality repetitions
A useful session can contain fewer total climbs if those climbs are fast, accurate and analytically useful. Repeating a mistake under fatigue can make the wrong pattern more familiar.
